Scenes from Buzza Hill, St. Mary’s - Tues 28 March

Hugh Town, St. Mary's, 28 march 2006

This photo of Hugh Town, St. Mary’s was taken fom Buzza Hill on a cool but sunny Tuesday 28 March.
With a fresh, stiff westerly blowing it was a bit tricky to steady the camera.

Click on the thumbnails below for photos taken from the top of Buzza Hill today… they include the Gry Maritha alongside the quay, St. Mary’s church looking towards Porthloo, Porthcressa beach with a glimpse of the tour bus ‘Katie’ to the right of the picture, Morning Point with St. Agnes beyond (taken with a zoom lens) and a seaweed laden Porthcressa beach with Hugh House and the Garrison in the background.

Whilst changing lenses I had the great privilege of stopping to chat to Frank Gibson who was out for a late morning walk around Buzza Hill. A legend in the world of photography, I have many of his publications illustrating his superb photographs taken over a lifetime of living on and observing the Islands. His warm personality and enthusiastic interest as we sat on a wooden bench and discussed photography in the ‘digital age’ was for me, an unforgetable experience.
