The Isles of Scilly
Situated some 28 miles southwest of Lands End, England amid clear Atlantic waters, this small group of five inhabited islands and over one hundred and fifty smaller islands and islets have long since been a magnet for artists and photographers alike.
Together with stunning views, glorious beaches, gentle rolling hills and sites of historical, scientific and archaelogical interest, the islands also play host to an abundance of wildlife with sea and migratory birds, seals and other marine life much in evidence.
The growth of exotic plants and colourful flowers is greatly encouraged by the temperate climate with many plants normally found in the southern hemisphere able to survive the virtually frost-free winter months.
With high light levels, clean air and a wealth of subjects to study and capture, the islands are an inspiration to conventional photographers and those, like myself, fostered by the ‘computer age’.
The ‘Isles of Scilly Pictorial Guide’ has been created to share my interest in digital photography and the delights of these beautiful islands.
